Cliff Ao Nang Resort Krabi Review
Cliff Ao Nang Resort in Krabi was once voted the top best 50 resort in Thailand and had been one of top 10 most popular resort in Ao nang beach. Cliff Ao Nang Resort is not a resort as its name suggested, but a small cosy boutique hotel with 21 beautiful Thai vintage style semi-detached bungalows.
If you are looking to experience a rustic hideout yet still close to amenities and nightlife, Cliff Ao Nang Resort does not appear to disappoint you on the surface.
For a boutique hotel type of atmosphere, this is definitely a good choice.
However upon deeper discovery, it may not truly reflect the value it
and situated on the main road from Krabi into Ao Nang.
Cliff Ao Nang Resort Krabi's location
Cliff Ao Nang is 40 minutes from Krabi airport and only a short jaunt to the beach front and restaurants. The downhill walk to the beach takes about 15-20 minutes depending on your pace and is a fun walk with little shops to browse along the way.
If you don't like to walk, you can catch a tuk tuk (a local taxi) for about 20 baht per person down to the beachfront. The location is ideal, just far enough away from the beach and night life to allow for peace and rest.

In Cliff Ao Nang Resort, you can choose what you want for breakfast the night before and what time you would like to eat.
The front desk will ask you what you would like for breakfast the night before.
You would definitely love the attention to detail where everything is cooked to order, copious servings and delicious breads.
The breakfast are delicious whether you choose American breakfast or Thai version.
American breakfast include a delicious spread of breads, muffins, pancakes or scones.
For the Thai breakfast, you can try the boiled rice and fried rice - yum
By the time you wake up in the morning, your breakfast is ready in your doorstep.
Cliff Ao Nang Resort staff will setup your breakfast on your verandah before they call on you. If it is raining, you may have your breakfast at the restaurant.
Cliff Ao Nang Resort Krabi facilities
Cliff Ao Nang boutique resort is built on the concept of "taking back to nature" and makes you feel like you are close to a rainforest.
The bathroom is an interesting concept and a novelty. For those who are a bit reserved about the openess, you can be assured of privacy as there are bamboo screens erected.
Slowly, your uneasiness will fade as you realise that no one can see through. You will definitely enjoy the fabulous "rain" shower. But do look out for frogs or other garden pets trying to join you for a shower too!

There is a small pool suitable more for a dip and frolic rather than actual swimming. The pool is really gorgeous as it overlooked the mountains. There are a limited number of sun loungers around but if you're spending most of your time on the beach, it does not really matter.
There is also free internet (2 computers) access near the reception and it is also a wireless hot spot for those with laptops.

There are only 21 semi-detached bungalows in Cliff Ao Nang Resort. The owner have adopted an ancient Thai architectural look in the age of “Chaiya Art”. Only one villa is a 'special' exclusive Srivichai Suite.

The remaining 20 are called Chaiya Bungalow. Room design and decoration is uniquely Thai. There are only screens to blocked out your privacy as the bungalow are surrounded by glass panel.
The rooms are clean and contemporary but a bit small to move around. Inside the room there is not a lot of space to place all your luggage after you unpack, so keep in mind not to bring too much clothes.

Srivichai Suite is the one and only special suite in Cliff Ao Nang resort. It is surrounded by a moat with koi fishes swimming around. This is a spacious bungalow all by itself unlike Chaiya Bungalow which is divided into two rooms.
It is fully equipped with modern facilities such as the LCD TV and DVD player which comes in handy when it rains outside.
Other than the open concept bathroom, there is also a big indoor bathroom attached with an oversized bathtub.

You can see that blue balloon "D" marked the exact location of Cliff Ao Nang Resort Krabi. Walking towards the left of the map will take you to Ao Nang beachfront. This is a 750m walk, along the way, there are so many great restaurants at such a ridicolously low price.
You may find that Ao nang beach is a jumping point to great beaches such as Rai Lay and Phra Nang.
Cliff Ao Nang Resort Krabi Service Standard
Cliff Ao Nang Resort has helpful and attentive staff. They will help you to make arrangements for your day tour bookings.
The staff are absolutely lovely especially the front desk staff named Mae. She is very polite and speak pretty good english and most importantly very efficient.
Cliff Ao Nang Resort staff deserve a pat on their shoulder for their effort. Keep it up.
How much for a Cliff Ao Nang Resort room?
Depending on what type of room you stay
- Average rate rrom USD 118 onwards per night for Chaiya Bungalow
- Average rate rrom USD 303 onwards per night for Srivichai Suite (Double)
- Average rate rrom USD 372 onwards per night for Bungalow Srivichai (Double)
Biggest gripe:
- the rooms are indeed small
- lots of mosquitos
- tea and coffee is not provided in the room and you will need to pay for each pot you order
Thumbs Up:
- breakfast served outside the room is always a joy and totally fulfilling
- a quiet place to chill round the pool
- providing us towels for every day outings
- allowing us to have a bath in one of their unoccupied rooms after our excursion even though we had checked out earlier in the morning
Special tips:
- bring insect repellant
- do not put your cash in the hotel safe as some incidents of cash being stolen
- have a room overlooking the infinity pool
- keep the doors shut at all times to keep out the mosquitoes
- avoid room Room 103 or 102 108, faced with traffic noise
- good rooms are the 200-series eg room 205, which looks over the pool
Is Cliff Ao Nang Resort Value for Money?
As Cliff Ao Nang Resort cost about 65 GBP or around USD $175 per night, you could probably find a better hotel in Ao Nang for a much cheaper price.
Although Cliff Ao Nang Resort satisfies all "boutique" criteria-- great service, attention to detail, private, good amenities and intimate surroundings, the price you pay for such a small room is way too much.
It is highly recommended to stay for one night if you really want to experience the boutique style.

for a couple wanting a private few days away, honeymoon couples

family with little children
