Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort is a 5-star beachfront resort in Krabi situated on the private Tub Kaek Beach.This is a remote, laid back boutique resort which focus on understated quality.

If you want to just relax by day, eat and drink quality food and chill in the evenings, this is the perfect holiday resort.

For people who want privacy, peace of mind, excellent service, beautiful natural surroundings, this may be for you.

If you want to go clubbing or nightlife entertainment then this place is not for you.

Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort is 45 minutes from the airport, you can arrange transfer to/from Krabi airport direct with the hotel for 500 baht per person

The location is quite remote and you need to get a taxi to go anywhere. There would be nothing in walking distance outside the resort. Not one bar, shop or restaurant. The nearest few are centrered around the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort about 5km away.

Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort hosts a private beach which boasts fantastic views of the sunsets and marvellous Hong Islands. The view of the Hong islands is fantastic and the sunset was the best of any place.

Tubkaak Krabi isolated location means that most guests tend to stay around the resort unless venturing off on a short day trip to nearby islands or a night out in Ao nang beach.

Transportation Tips: Tubkaak Krabi Resort to nearby town

to Ao Nang beach
Ao nang beach is a busy strip filled with restaurants, shopping and amenities. The taxi fare was 600 baht to Ao Nang beach and 400 baht return. The ride took 20 minutes at the most. You can negotiate this price down significantly to 300-350 baht.

Facilities in Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort include the freeform pool, spa and the library with internet are all excellent.

Tubkaak Krabi Resort has a library with wide range of books that will entertain you as you lay there on the beach, or while lounging at the pool sunbathing

There is free wi fi access in the library if you need to surf online.

There is also free DVD lending library where you can snuggle up in your bed and catch up with the latest DVD movies.

Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort has a free form pool. The center has a bubble area which they call it a jacuzzi but it was far from such.

Since there are only a few guests we spent a lot of time by ourselves poolside. The sun loungers are plentiful with nice big umbrellas.

They even provide two beach towel and two fans all in a nice beach bag - it is small details like this that makes this place stand out

If you want to sun bathe at the private beach, sun loungers are banned in Krabi so Tubkaak resort provides extra large bean bags for your pleasure to sun tan.

Arundina restaurant
There is only one restaurant in Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food at the Tubkaak was delicious - both the western and the Thai dishes.

The restaurant is surrounded by trees and boasts even more nature with the huge population of Koi fish.

Many guests from neighbouring resorts also come to have their dinner here at Tubkaak restaurant.

Breakfast
Breakfast was pretty standard except they served a special Roti dish that is not found in any hotel breakfasts.

Breakfast include an egg station with the choice of having fresh eggs made to order, fruit platters, some cold cuts and cheese, juice, breads and buns, yogourt and cereal - what more can you ask for?

Lunch
Lunch menu is a whittled down version of it. Favourites traditional Thai dishes are the "Tom Khar Gai" (more like a lemongrassy-coconut seafood veloute), all the seafood dishes, all the curries, and their western desserts were gorgeous! This is very fine, Michelin star Thai dining.

Dinner
The set menus were very irresistible and we found ourselves tucking into those each night. The wine selection is also very good and balances very well with either the Western or Thai dishes on the menu.

If you book through certain travel agents, you are allocated 600 baht per person daily to spend at the hotel for food (allowing a choice of 3 course set)- this does not go very far espically if you like to eat.

This amount is cumulative, so in essence if there are two of you, they subtract 1200 baht per day off the final bill.

The menu was very extensive and it had a great balance of both Western and Thai dishes. The dishes are all made with very fresh ingredients and the taste of Thailand is passionately placed in each and every dish.

Traditional Thai food

choose from the cheaper Thai menu:

• curries, rices, noodles, and stir fries about 250-350 baht
• whole fried fish with sauces 550 baht..delicious!
• try their homemade squid ink and seafood pasta (450 baht) that is superb

Western food
Pastas are so delicious and highly recommended dish is Lobster and blue cheese ravioli which is also delicious too. Western food like lobster thermidor, steaks and lamb rack are pricier heading towards the 700-900 baht range.

Live entertainment at Tubkaak Krabi Resort restaurant
In the evenings, there is live entertainment with a wonderful singer and guitar duo who perform love songs. On Monday, there is authentic Thai music played on a lovely instrument. The entertainment at the restaurant in the evenings is lovely and adds to the whole romance of the dining experience.

Dinner at the sandy beach
You can have dinner on the beach but you will need to check the tides with Sunny, the resident manager. It will cost you 8,500 baht and anyway the restaurant is just right besides the beach.

Cocktails at Tubkaak
You can have cocktails at some point about 175 baht, but with a 20% discount at happy hour from 6-7pm.

Other restaurants near Tubkaak Krabi Resort
we strolled up to the end of the beach to try dinner at the Amari Vogue Resort's Italian beachfront restaurant, Bellini, just for a change of scene. It's nice up there, and the food is as good as any Italian we've tried in London, or Italy for that matter. It's a lot more glitzy and ‘bling' with masses of fairy lights wound around the palm trees,

Tubkaek Sunset resort which seems to have been left behind somewhere in the 1980's and their large open air restaurant was uninspired and under-spiced food. The food was not as good as the Tubkaak but about 25% cheaper

Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort Sport activities

Free kayak - the resort don't charge for it. The staff will prepare it if you want to go for free kayak... especially for those visitors who have never tried it before, this is a great experience! it's fun, not too tiring, and best of all it is free.

Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort Spa

The Spa in the resort is quite small but with lovely open air massage beds. They are very professional with a wide range of massages - the lemon grass oil massage was superb.

We tried out the spa on a couple of occasions which was good but of course far more expensive than Bangkok.

Do look out for discounts, they offer 20% discounts between 10am to 2pm, however check with the spa staff for their promotions. A traditional Thai Massage cost 1200 baht for one and half hours, I tried it and it was just as good.

Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort room

There a total of 42 rooms designed with a traditional Thai way of life that include an enclosed outdoor bath and shower. The rooms are kept clean twice a day including a turndown service at night.

Superior Room
All the 16 superior rooms at Tubkaak resort stand along its pool. They mostly occupy the ground floor of the Tubaak Resort. Avoid ground floor if you can as it is noisy near the pool and offer little privacy.

Deluxe Room
There are 20 Deluxe Room and only the upper floor has a balcony. Outdoor stone, double bath perfect for a romantic soaking, all in the privacy of your own little space. Separate showers were inside but with full view of outdoor bath

In a deluxe room located on the second floor, the room is quiet with high ceiling.

Sea View Room
There are only 4 sea view rooms at Tubkaak Resort. You can enjoy the outstanding views of the sea and the nearby islands. The interiors of the sea view rooms in Krabi's Tubkaak Resort display intricate works of wood, silk and natural stones.

Sea view room #105 which is closest to the Arundina restaurant get lots of noise from passing people on the main walking paths.

Choose Sea view room #101 which is a much bigger and comfortable bungalow at the opposite end facing the sea and totally isolated and private.

Laurel Suite
The Laurel suite of Tubkaak Resort offer one bedroom and an exclusive living room. The outside bathroom, which comes with a sunken bathtub. The Laurel suite is ideal for newlywed couples.

When entering the suite, you will pass by the living area before reaching the large ensuite bedroom with a super king-size bed and flat screen TV.

The ensuite bathroom is at the back of the bungalow and includes a large walk-in shower and outdoor bathtub, discretely tucked away from other guests' view.

Through the big door-windows of the bedroom and living area, there is a private deck overlooking the sea.

Tubkaak Suite
There is only one Tubkaak Suite which is a terrace, designed in sandstone and wood, with your own infinity pool, Jacuzzi and Italian inspired sun loungers, placed right in the water.

Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort Service Standard

The attention to detail by the Tubkaak resort was amazing and upon arrival offered us a cold scented towel to freshen up with and drinks.

The General manager Petcharat, a local Thai lady will personally come out to greet and welcome you to the resort.

The resort staff will take the time to explain everything and gave you a tour around the resort ground and show you to your room.

The restaurant staff were especially dilligent, knowing what drink we wanted before we even ordered, because we would order the same drink at meals.

The free beach bags provided were beautiful and had everything you needed to lay down on the beach to relax including a bottle of mosquito repellent, a straw hat, beach slippers and towels.

Special tips:

• recommend the Deluxe rooms which are on the upper floors of the villas as you get a great balcony with bed
  
• Go for a deluxe room rather than a superior. You get a balcony and day bed and it is a lot more private than the rooms at ground floor
  
• The seaview/garden rooms are much better than the pool view ones. You don't get the noise and you have a more tranquil and pleasant outlook from your balcony.
  

Is Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort worth paying?

Although it didn't have the size or amenities of the other 5 star hotels, every effort is made to make your stay perfect.

Everybody remembers your name,the attention to detail really is fantastic and they make you feel so very special when you stay there.

Highly recommend Tubkaak Resort to anyone looking to pamper themselves for a luxurious treat.

perfect couples getaway, honeymoon couples,

Not Recommended for:
family with young children, budget travelers, lots of stairs, so not suitable for those with disabilities or elderly couple
